House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, chronicling the reign of House Targaryen. Martin's 2018 book Fire & Blood, the series explores themes of power, loyalty, family conflict, and political intrigue within a richly detailed fantasy medieval world. Drawing inspiration from English medieval history, particularly the 12th-century Anarchy, the show delves deeply into the complexities of dynastic struggle and the consequences of ambition and betrayal.
