The Western Book of the Dead

Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrol officer, discovers the body of a city manager involved in a major land deal. Detectives Raymond Velcoro and Antigone Bezzerides are assigned to the investigation alongside Woodrugh amid jurisdictional tensions. The three begin uncovering corruption tied to the victim's double life and a bigger conspiracy involving land development and crime.
